Mauney is a 5 year old Quarter Horse gelding standing 15.2 hands high. This horse is the best partner to have under you on the cross country field. He is bold, brave, and always up for a new experience. No fence is too daunting, no water is too deep, and no terrain is too challenging. Mauney is forward thinnking and loves having a job. His skill set makes him a prime choice for a rider with first flight hunt aspirations, someone looking to bring a solid and smart horse up the leveks in the eventing world, or someone needing a tried and true partner on the trails. He’s tough as nails and built to last, hes put together more like a draft cross than a quarter horse!
In the ring, Mauney is attentive and enjoys having a job. He has three comfortable gaits, easy tranaitions, and is schooling his flying changes. He is easy to ride round in the bridle, and is schooling basic lateral work. Mauney is broke well under western tack as well, and will spin around, lope off, and has a nice big stop. Under western tack he will lope around on a loose rein and listen well to leg, seat, and voice cues.
Over fences, Mauney is one that could easily go up the levels and be successful on the bigger eventing tracks. He is so smart about his feet, and naturally wants to jump. He has schooled training level fences as a test of scope, though at his age we focus on exposiing horss to smaller questions and fences to work on technique. He will have no problem with the size, or spookines, of a fence. To sum him up, Mauney is the type that makes you feel secure galloping up to a fence, knowing you’ll be safely getting to the other side.
On the trails, Mauney has been ridden all over. He enjoys getting out and seeing new things. Though he is very, very safe, Mauney is not your grandmas trail horse. Unless your grandma wants to hunt first flight or ride out for hours checking fence. Mauney is the horse that you can take on weekend camping trips, hunt any terrain, take on hunter paces, or explore the countryside with. Nothign bothers him on the trails, he has swam, been ridden along busy roadways, ridden out alone, ad is used to all livestock and hounds.
In the barn, Mauney is easy to get along with. He is an easy keeper that lives outside in a mixed herd. He is a good boy in the barn, with a kind personality. He is well behaved for all of the usual barn tasks, and is gentle enough for anyone to handle.
