We’ve owned Scamper for the past 6 years, and during that time he has primarily been used for trail riding and arena work. He has always been enjoyable to have around and is the kind of horse that does his best when he has consistency and a regular job. Scamper is very soft in the bridle, responsive, and rides with feel. He’s the type of horse that gives a rider confidence because he’s willing, sensible, and easy to communicate with. Gentle-minded without being dull or lazy, he has a nice balance of forward motion and responsiveness that makes him enjoyable both in and out of the arena. Like many athletic geldings, Scamper does his best with consistency and routine. He’s not the type of horse we would recommend leaving off for extended periods and then expecting to immediately ride without preparation. When he’s been sitting, we simply recommend bringing him back into work thoughtfully with a few rides or a quick lunge session before climbing on. With regular use, Scamper settles in extremely well and becomes a dependable, enjoyable partner that is soft, responsive, and a pleasure to ride.
