The Milk Man, who we affectionately call Waylon, is cute, cute, CUTE! A registered POA gelding, he comes from winning show stock and got his initial foundation as a 2-3-year-old. At five, he has filled out to be one stacked little horse, like a reiner in miniature. He’s a perfect pony size, just shy of 13 hands, (12 hands, 3.5 inches to be exact), so he can compete at the POA shows, and be ridden by either a kid or a small adult who likes a horse that doesn’t require a ladder and a really stretchy pair of pants to climb on. He can also be ridden by any adult for training or refreshers. His conformation is perfect, he has a big round hip and a baby-doll head, and don’t even get me started on this color. You’d be hard-pressed to find one as fancy-colored as Waylon, with a dappled bay coat, splashy full blanket, dark spots on white and white spots on dark, a great big friendly blaze, and one striking blue eye. This guy turns heads wherever he goes, and he laps up the attention like a puppy. Through no fault of his own, Waylon spent most of the last two years turned out in the remuda without a job, so this summer we sent him off for 90 days with a professional trainer to rebuild his foundation and get him ready to work. He has gorgeous movement, a willing attitude, and a desire to please, so he’s ready to finish in whatever direction you choose. He has nice gaits, smooth transitions, and moves nicely off your seat and leg. He bends and flexes beautifully, although he’s not as soft in the bridle as a totally finished horse should be. He knows his leads, and with his looks and movement, he’d be a natural in the show ring. He also can move out and cover some ground, with good exposure to the wide wild world and an enthusiasm that lasts all day long. Put a few miles on him outside and he’ll be an amazing trail or ranch horse. We hauled him to a handful of junior rodeos this summer to get him used to the chaos in town, and he handled it like a wide-eyed kid at the circus. He's got the power and athleticism to be a real contender in performance sports. Personality-wise, Waylon is as sweet as tupelo honey, and he LOVES people. He actually comes running up to you from the pasture; you won’t get a friendlier greeting from a Golden Retriever. He’s good for grooming, stands for the vet and farrier, and loads nicely. He will paw if left tied alone, but some time at a patience pole should cure that. He is fit and healthy, with a vet inspection and negative Coggins. He is UTD on vaccines and wormer. He’s currently shod on all four, but his feet stayed perfect barefoot the last two years. Please let me know if you have any questions about lovely Waylon, or if you’d like to come try him out.
