Moondance ist eine 16 jährige, Sooty braune Holsteiner Stute. Aufgrund einer Verletzung im Fohlenalter ist sie bedingt reitbar. Durch diese Verletzung bildeten sich Chips, welche die Vorbesitzer nicht behandeln ließen. Wir haben sie 3 jährig gekauft, begannen mit dem einreiten und dadurch fiel es auf. Wir haben sie operieren lassen, wobei 2 von 3 Chips vollständig entfernt werden konnten. Der 3. ist zu nah an der Sehne. Zudem hat sie im vorderen rechten Fesselgelenk Arthrose, welche bei passender Pflege aber nicht groß auftritt. Sie wurde von uns schonend auf dem reitplatz, hauptsächlich vom Boden aus, bewegt. Gemütliche Geländeritte im Schritt macht sie an schmerzfreien Tagen auch mit. Im trab beginnt sie nach wenigen Schritten zu lahmen, im Sommer nicht so stark wie im Winter. In der Zucht haben wir es auch probiert. Sie wurde 2023 vom Hengst „Champion De Luxe“ besamt, hat jedoch nicht angenommen. Mittlerweile ist sie für ein erstes Fohlen zu alt. Moondance ist etwas (sehr) zu kräftig, was wir aber so gut es geht abspecken.( so gut das mit kranken Beinen eben geht) Moondance ist ein absoluter Traum. Man kann mit ihr viel Horsemanship machen, sie läuft wie ein Hund hinterher, achtet sehr auf Körpersprache und hat generell starkes Interesse an Zuneigung und Aufmerksamkeit. Da sie ja nie richtig angeritten wurde, ist sie absolut nichts für Kinder, Wiedereinstiege oder jemanden, der ein Reitpferd sucht. Ein-zwei Mal im Monat drauf setzen, sie ins Gelände mitnehmen (ob mit Reiter oder als handpferd) sind problemlos drin. Sie ist in Herden eher Ranghöher, verteidigt ihre Position dort auch dominant. Sie steht bei uns mit zwei Pferden und zwei Ponys in einem Offenstall, wird nur zur Fütterung getrennt. Sie kennt jeden Lärm, geht zuverlässig zu jeder Zeit auf jeden Anhänger, kennt Western sowie Englisch Sättel. Sie ist unfassbar fein im Maul und eher darauf ausgelegt, auf Gewicht und beinhilfen zu reagieren. Wir hoffen, dass sich jemand findet, der sie schon im Training behält, damit sie nicht maßlos Verfettet und sich die Beine kaputt steht, von ihr aber nicht erwartet, dass sie jederzeit zum losreiten bereit ist. Genauso wollen wir nicht, dass sie zum Wanderpokal wird, weswegen wir diese Anzeige ehrlich aufgeben. Wenn Sie also ein Reitpferd suchen, ist unsere Moondance nichts für sie. Moondance is a 16-year-old Sooty Brown Holsteiner mare. Due to an injury sustained in her foalhood, she is only conditionally rideable. Chips formed as a result of this injury, which the previous owners chose not to treat. We purchased her at age three, started her under saddle, and that’s when we noticed the issue. She was operated on, and two of the three chips could be fully removed. The third chip is located too close to the tendon. Additionally, she has osteoarthritis in her right front fetlock joint, which, with proper care, does not cause significant problems. We have gently exercised her mainly on the riding arena, mostly from the ground. She’s comfortable on relaxed trail rides at the walk, which she also enjoys on pain-free days. At the trot, she begins to limp after a few steps, with less severity in summer than in winter. We also tried breeding her. In 2023, she was inseminated with the stallion “Champion De Luxe,” but she did not conceive. She is now too old for her first foal. Moondance is somewhat (very) strong, but we are doing our best to keep her weight down (as much as her legs allow). Moondance is an absolute dream. You can do a lot of horsemanship with her; she follows behind like a dog, pays close attention to body language, and generally shows strong interest in affection and attention. Since she was never properly backed, she is not suitable for children, reintegration, or someone looking for a riding horse. Getting on her once or twice a month and taking her out on trails (either ridden or as a hand-horse) is no problem. She tends to be more dominant in her herd and defends her position confidently. She lives with us in an open stable with two other horses and two ponies, only separated during feeding. She is familiar with all kinds of noise, reliably loads onto any trailer, and is experienced with both Western and English saddles. She has an incredibly gentle mouth and is more responsive to weight and seat aids. We hope to find someone who will continue her training so she doesn’t become overly fat or have her legs overexerted, without expecting her to be ready to ride at any moment. We also want to be honest: we do not want her to become a mere showpiece. If you are looking for a riding horse, Moondance is not the right choice for you. If you are interested, please contact us.
