Chili is a registered 3-year Friesian Morgan Sport Horse standing at 15.1 hands tall and still growing. He is an exceptional 3-year-old. Most 3-year-olds do not have the brains this guy has. And not only is he broke to ride, but he is also broke to drive. And we did get Chili straight from the breeder, so there are no unknowns with him. You get his whole story.

Chili really does have the best of both worlds with the Friesian; he’ll get the bigger build, and with the Morgan, he has the brains. The biggest thing that impresses me with him is… I have let him sit out in the pasture for a couple of months. And was able to grab him out, throw a saddle on, and ride off down the road. He NEVER offered to do anything bad or crazy. He was the same horse that I left out there. And if you know young horses, you can’t just do that with any young horse.

But Chilli has always had that type of temperament from day one. He has a very willing-to-please kind of attitude. He’s very people-oriented and in your pocket. He’s also very smart. The Morgan brains really shine through on him. He remembers anything you teach him, even if you let him sit for a couple of months, he’ll still remember when you pull him out again.

He rides really nicely under saddle. He’ll go anywhere I point him. Up or down steep banks. He’ll cross any water and bridges. He is athletic, so very sure-footed, NOT clumsy. He has very smooth gaits. His trot is easy to post to, and his canter is VERY smooth.

Rides off of leg pressure and knows how to neck rein. Takes his canter off a walk and takes the correct leads. He has been roped with a little, so he has that exposure. He has been used to pony other horses as well. We use the quad to grab him out of the pasture and pony him back to the house all the time. So, he ponies off the quad as well.

And anytime he sees us coming, he will run to meet us at the gate. He’s NOT afraid of traffic at all, in fact, he will follow the tractor out in the field and almost won’t leave it alone when we are trying to use it with farm equipment. And he’s not phased at all by the noise or the size of it. And he will follow the quad around if we go in his pasture with it.

He’s middle to low end of the pecking order. He has excellent ground manners. He stands for tacking and mounting, and he is great for the farrier. Loads and hauls easily. NO bad habits or vices to call on him. He’s excellent for any vet work, shots, Coggins, or deworming.
