Meet Mayo XVI (Antares LXVI/Al Tanero CLJ/ Pensador VIII)
Mayo is truly a special horse. He turns heads everywhere he goes and has the presence, movement, and personality that make him stand out from the crowd.
Mayo is a 2019 branded PRE gelding with a passport, imported from Spain to the United States in October 2024. He stands 16 hands and is an expressive horse to ride with plenty of potential.
He is currently W/T/C with a single flying change and has the beginnings of piaffe and passage. He would be an exciting project for someone who wants to continue bringing along a talented horse.
Mayo has experience outside the arena as well. He has fox hunted, trail ridden, and loads and on the trailer. He has also been ridden in Western tack, although I do not currently have video of him in it.
Mayo could excel in a number of disciplines:
Western Dressage, Working Equitation, Parades and exhibitions, and dressage.
Or simply becoming an all-around riding horse.
Mayo has the traditional PRE look, including a beautiful, thick mane and tail, with a brand on his left hip.
Mayo would be an excellent opportunity for a professional looking for a talented horse on a budget, or for an amateur working with a professional in a structured program.
He does best with a consistent riding routine of six days a week.
He has been sitting since November 2025, simply because I have not had the time to give him the riding and training he deserves. The final portion of the video was taken in June 2026 indoors, when we simply hopped on him and he had not been ridden since Nov.
He should be brought back into work gradually and thoughtfully, but I believe he has the talent and foundation to become a very special addition to the right program or barn.
Mayo has an extensive set of 23 X-rays from 2024, including his back, which are available to interested buyers.
He is:
Current on vaccinations/coggins/dental.
Good for the farrier and veterinarian.
Barefoot with regular trims approximately every 6 weeks.
Accustomed to living outside, coming into the barn only during extreme weather.
Mayo is the kind of horse that gets noticed — I believe he has the potential to become something truly exceptional.
