Kinkaid is a 4-year-old, 15-hand, older-style Morgan Gelding. He is eligible to be registered through the Morgan Horse. Kinkaid both Rides And Drives. He is very safe both ways and has a puppy dog personality to boot! He is very friendly will come running across the pasture at the call of a whistle to greet you. He has a very friendly nature and will not leave you alone. If you are in his pasture, he follows you everywhere just like a dog. Kinkaid both rides and drives, so for driving… He has been driven down quiet country roads and through a small town. He does excellent with the traffic and stands well to hitch/unhitch. Stands at corners and stop lights. He is steady but slow under harness. He is safe, though he has NEVER offered to do anything wrong under harness or saddle. For riding, he stands great for tacking and mounting. He loads right into a trailer and backs right out. He has perfect ground manners and stands good for the farrier. He gets along out in the herd, and needless to say, he’s easy to catch. He has a VERY smooth canter and a nice, easy-to-post-to trot. He will go anywhere out on the trail. He crosses the logs, bridges, and water. He has encountered lots of four-wheelers out on the trails as well and doesn’t mind them whizzing by. He’s good with critters out on the trail and doesn’t mind riding with a dog. He does NOT spook easily. He is very intelligent, like Morgans are known for. He learns quickly and has a willingness to please attitude. Under harness, he can be relatively slow, but under saddle, he will move out if asked, and he is not hot. He has a good average pace and will go slower too if you ask. He’ll basically do whatever speed for however long you want. If you want to walk the whole way, he’ll walk. If you want to cover some ground and move out at a trot, he’ll stay at a steady paced trot for a few miles. He is my go-to guy because I can have him go slow the whole way or move out and cover some ground, and he’ll always do whatever I ask. He’ll go anywhere I point him and has a sound mind. The one thing I absolutely LOVE about Kinkaid that is hard to find in any horse, especially a younger horse, is that… I have let him rest for a couple of months at a time without working him, and he remains the same when I pull him out of the pasture. For example, I recently let him graze in the pasture for about three months. I went to get him to switch pastures, and all I had to do was whistle, and he came running up. Just had a halter and lead rope and rode him bareback down the road with the traffic whizzing by and horses running around whinnying at him. And he never once did a thing wrong, paid attention to me, his rider, the whole time, and ignored everything else. And there are a lot of young horses out there that you can’t do that with. And Kinkaid has always been that way. I can let him sit for a good bit. Just grab him out, throw a saddle on, and ride down the trail, and he NEVER offers to do anything wrong. He is very sensible in the fact that he will leave home alone, and doesn’t care about where the other horses are. He’ll separate on the trail; he can ride front, back, or middle. He is down-to-earth, has the right kind of mind that is hard to find, and has the personality to match. Not to mention, he’s drop-dead gorgeous and well put together. He is currently grade but is eligible to be registered through Morgan Horse Association. His dad is a registered Morgan stallion, and his mom is out of papered stock. I have all of his lineage, and we can complete the paperwork if someone is interested in obtaining the papers. However, there would be a fee associated with Morgan Horse for processing these documents. But it is possible, and I do have his pedigree on hand. He stays up to date on shots, wormings, vet checks, and Coggins. Just call if you’d like to set up a time to visit or have any questions.
