Meet Flint! This gelding is a 5 year old, 15.3-16hh, Perch/QHx, gelding. He is the most gorgeous steel grey color, with a lighter athletic build that’s put together correct. He rides Western, English and Bareback, he’s broke to drive, and he even lays down on command! He is sensible, safe, and incredibly fun to have in the barn.
On the ground, Flint is personable and so sweet. He has excellent ground manners, and will stand to groom, tack up, bathe or simply to fuss over. He’s a people person with a quiet personality and a gentle way about him. He has done lots of ground work, and his manners show it! He loads in and out of the trailer quietly, he acts the same off property, and he’s behaved in his stall. He gets along with all the other horses, and loves to play with the other young geldings. This gelding is easy to have in the barn, and easy to work with.
Under saddle, Flint has the basics down in the ring. He walk trot and canters both ways, and he’s learning balance and to use himself properly. He moves off leg, and he is extremely light and easy through the hand. He has great brakes just off your seat or a “whoa”. He’s been a rewarding one to bring along, one you can really see the progress as it’s happening! He’s smart, a quick learner, and always willing to please. He has learned to be adjustable in the walk and trot, and he’s learning quickly at the canter. He’s not the spooky type, or one to have a big reaction to anything. He’s happy to chill and mosey around on a loose rein, or he’ll turn on his good work ethic- and he really seems to enjoy his job. He’s going to make someone an incredible horse, and we could see him excelling in any direction!
On the trail Flint is a steady packer. He’s down to lead or follow, and he has a forward thinking walk with happy ears forward the whole time. He’ll babysit the amateurs, or pack the husband, and he’s very safe and sensible. He’s been out on hunter paces and didn’t get worked up at the busy environment. He’s always cool, calm, and collected. He has a cute jump on him, that will only continue to get better with age! He’s honest, straightforward, and an easy ride. He’s been desensitized to everything from tarps, flags, smoke, traffic, equipment, to all the wildlife you run into!
Under harness, Flint has had an excellent start. He’s responsive to voice commands, and he’s always a solid citizen. He drives both single and double, and he has even pulled the sleigh! He is stunning under harness, and if someone wants to continue him that direction he will not disappoint!
