“The Sugar Fix” aka “Jane” is a 15.2hh, 6yr old, APHA mare. I will start by saying, this girl has stolen my heart, and anyone that knows me, knows how much I love this horse. She is one of the most unique horses that I have ever owned. I just simply can not keep them all. Here is most likely one of my longest descriptions, please don’t skim, please read it all!
Jane is a do it all, and look good while doing type of horse. She literally has everything to offer, from western pleasure, to jumping, chasing cows, packing beginners on trail rides, an amazing pedigree, is a good mom, beautiful looks, but she is looking for a unique situation! While I would consider Jane an in your pocket type of horse, especially after developing a bond with you, she is a mare, and she prefers privacy and alone time while she’s in her stall. With that being said, she is not evil, she does not have bad intentions, she simply likes her alone time, and maybe that’s why her and I click so well, because… I feel ya girl.
Now, if you are still reading, that means that you are willing to accept that she will not cuddle you in the stall, BUT she will in fact fall asleep in your arms on the cross ties or even when she’s out in the pasture! If you are a mare person, and someone willing to respect her, and build that bond, read on, because this is one heck of a horse.
In the barn, Jane is quiet in her stall, she does not crib, weave, etc. She will stay in, peaceful as can be, alone or with a barn full. She never asks for anything, and keeps a clean stall. She is not marish towards her neighbors, and will even share hay. She will stand on the cross ties allllll day long to be groomed, braided, loved on, bathed, spoiled, she loves having her hair braided, she will literally fall asleep. She also loves getting a bath. She has good ground manners and is led in and out by novice horse people. Jane can live out alone or with others, she is submissive in the pasture and gets along well with other horses. She is always there to greet you at the gate, and will follow you around in the pasture. She is also quiet and doesn’t care if she lives alone. She is not a herd bound horse by any means. She can be groomed by children and beginners and doesn’t mind dogs running all around her. She can be led with another horse as well, (I lead her and her pasture mate together to save time). When entering her stall to refill her hay, water, or feed grain, I point “away” and she will step back and wait. You can go into her stall and catch her etc, she just pins her ears saying this is my space. I making a kissing sound and she knows that, that means to come to her door, we are exiting the stall. Again, she is not evil, there is just a level of respect that she asks for, she is a mare.
Jane absolutely LOVES trail riding. She is brave, willing, honest, and so so happy when she gets to go out explore, and see the world. I put a beginner kid on her for a full day at fair hill, crossing bridges, water, going through tunnels, you name it. She was a total babysitter and took care of the kid. Jane is ears forward and where do you wanna go next??! She is laid back, and will ride out alone and in a group. I personally have ridden her through some rugged terrain, and wasn’t sure what she would think at first, but she put her booty to work and kept up with the group, up and down mountain sides, through water falls, and I had a blast. Jane is traffic safe, and not spooky in the slightest bit. She is very confident on the trails and takes care of her rider. She will go out for a 30 min hack, or ride all day. I think that she would be an AMAZING camping partner. At fair hill we stopped to eat lunch on the trails, she stood tied to a tree and took a nap. Trail riding makes her very happy, and she will take good care of her rider. Jane jumps right onto any trailer saying let’s go! You can tie her to the side of the trailer to get ready as well! She will ride in the front, middle or back, she doesn’t care.
Jane rides western, english, and bareback. This girl is a dream to ride. Her gaits are slow, smooth, and collected. She will also move out and has beautiful gaits all around. Jane neck reins, moves off of leg, bends her rib cage, she will move her shoulder and haunches, she will do a little spin, will back up off of leg, has a great whoa, side pass, will move laterally off of leg, go on the buckle or collected, she is started on a lead change, and knows her leads. She is so so so simple to ride, yet has all of the bells and whistles for an advanced rider. She is my favorite horse to ride, we just click, and she can read my body movements so well. Jane is an incredibly intelligent horse and learns SUPER fast. While riding Jane, it’s as if you have a true friend, she is there to listen, and join you, you aren’t just sitting on a dull horse that doesn’t want to connect. My favorite thing about Jane is her motivation to learn and please you. She enjoys being worked, she enjoys being ridden, it makes her happy to be out and be used.
In the ring, Jane will walk, jog, trot, lope, canter, get her leads, and she will pop over fences. Her gaits are very adjustable, ride her like a western pleasure horse, or ask her to move out, hum, and she will go back into a collected gait. You will see video and photos of me riding her totally tackless, using only my leg and voice to guide her, and I hope that can show you just how amazing this girl is. Ride her in a snaffle or a shank, halter or neck rope, she is responsive either way. With that being said, she is subtle and not overly responsive, hence being able to ride her completely tackless! Jane enjoys popping over little fences, she is honest to the jump, and does not get hot or strong. She would make a cute little hunter!
I took Jane to a cow event, we did team penning and ranch sorting, she totally loved it. She was quiet in the busy warm up ring, and kept her attention on me. She stood quietly all night while we waited for our turn. And she had a blast chasing cows!!!
Growing up, Jane was shown in halter, longe line, in hand trail, and western pleasure. She went to world championships and eastern national championships. She has 350+ points. She then became a momma to a beautiful palomino foal. She is a good mom, and currently open. She is panel tested and negative for common diseases. She is also color tested, which I can share with anyone who is interested. Jane can very easily go do the show life, as well as be a mother again!
Jane is an easy keeper, she doesn’t have any health or soundness issues. She has a very simple diet, and can live on lush grass. She is good for the vet and farrier. She does not receive injections or any maintenance, but during the breeding seasons, I recommend putting her on daily regumate. I did not have her on it when I first got her, but her heat cycles started and she goes into a heavy heat. She doesn’t become any more marish, if anything, super submissive, but her heats are heavy and I felt it was best for her to put her on regumate. Her next owner can evaluate her heats, and decide what is the best option, but I will send the regumate along with her. On days that I know I am going to be asking a lot of her, I will give her a sprinkle of mare magic, but it is not required, and I will give her next owner a brand new bag of it to keep around! Other than that, she requires nothing.
Jane will give you the world, she will bring you happiness and urge to go ride. This mare really is sweet, once that respect and trust is built, nothing will come between you. I am not a mare person, I rarely have mares, but something about Jane has made the two of us just click. It really makes me sad that I can not keep her. My other personal horse is a stallion, who is also a W20/W20, she can not live with him lol. Jane deserves the world, and I know that her forever person is out there. I understand that her situation is not like every other horse out there. I understand that most people want to be able to smother their horse while they are looking cute in the stall. I just know that there is someone out there, looking for a partner, who is like me and doesn’t have to give their horse 24/7 attention. I want this ad to be very honest, and steer her in the direction of the home that she will love and be happy in, so please please please, call me to chat more about her!!
Jane has some great bloodlines! Her sire, “The Sugar Daddy” is sired by “A Good Machine” , who is in the AQHA Hall Of Fame. He has a total of 68,322 points earned, with 20 world championships, and many more awards. Jane’s sire “The Sugar Daddy” is also a proven stallion, with a world championship in western riding, and a sire to many successful show horses. Back in her lines, the famous “Zippo Pine Bar” can be seen a few times. If you aren’t looking for a riding horse, perhaps you are looking for a broodmare who has top quality lines, and will produce color in your herd.
Well folks, here she is, miss Jane, a once in a lifetime mare, with so much to offer. Her video is as detailed as this description, so please watch the full video. You know you love a horse, when proof watching her video fills your eyes with tears. Not only have I fallen in love with Jane, I want her to land in the BEST home, I want her to be respected and appreciated for all that she has to offer. And if you have read until this point, thank you, I know that it is a lot. I would like to be able to stay in touch with her future owner, and her breeder would love that as well. Jane was orphaned at ten weeks old, she lived with a goat and had a milk bucket. She was raised lovingly by her breeder, and we care deeply about her. Jane took a few days to get settled in with me, and I would expect that of the next home, so please be patient with her. Watch her video, feel her presence, and if you think that she is the one for you, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for reading! Shipping can be arranged anywhere.
