Hershey's Maggie says look at my fancy haircut!! She is a 5 year old Norwegian Fjord mare. Maggie is a little extra special and the type that you don't see every day! She is very well broke to ride and drive and is 100% KIDSAFE and is gentle to be around. In heavy traffic and comotion she is very sane and does not spook easily. When the grandkids come to grandparents place Maggie is always the highlight wether it is riding her through the sprinkler or taking her for a trail ride. She is very gentle and slow with the kids but when an adult gets on and asks her she is also very willing to work. She lopes collected circles and even does some small jumps when asked to. Maggie has a very willing attitude and doesn't mind going slow or fast. She gives buggy rides around the farm and on some days she get to climb up the steps to the petting area balcony and just look good and take pets a treats from whoever passes by. About a month ago Joseph took Maggie on a 3 day overnight trail ride and Maggie did great. She doesn't mind riding in a group or solo. Also one of the girls here at the farm needed a horse for a moonlight ride so she took Maggie and she did a great job. It was dark with glowsticks everywhere and a big noisy crowd with horses and riders everywhere and Maggie did very well. She rides English or Western and does very good on leg pressure and side passes nicely both directions. Here is a cute mare that will suit just about anyone. She is very fancy and a little different from most others!! You'll be sure to have something that your neighbor doesn't!!!
History about the Breed....
It is one of the worlds oldest and purest breeds. It is believed that its ancestors migrated to Norway and were domesticated over 4,000 years ago. Archaeological excavations at viking burial sites suggest that horses of this type have been selectively bred for at least 2,000 years. The Fjords were used by the Vikings as war mounts and have been used for 100s of years as farm animals in western Norway. The Fjord is strong enough for heavy work such as plowing fields and hauling fire wood, yet is light and agile enough to be a super trail horse.
