Andy is a gorgeous sorrel crossbred gelding with a flaxen white mane and tail. He is 5 years old and stands 15.2 hands tall. He is thick and stout and has an outstanding conformation. Andy’s build is exceptional. His body is proportional, and he is put together just right! Andy is a remarkable horse that trail rides, works around the ranch, knows his way around in the arena and even does tricks! Andy has that exceptional attitude in a horse that you do not find very often. He is so loving and sweet. He is friendly, gentle and very personable. We have owned Andy for a year and a half now and in that time, he has proven to be one of our favorite go-to mounts. We all love him around here! He is so much fun to ride and be around! He is an absolute pleasure both in the barn and in the saddle. His calm nature, sound mind and steadfast attitude come from the Belgian in him and his athleticism, talent and versatility come from his Quarter Horse breeding. He has the best of both qualities from both breeds of horses!
Andy is an intelligent animal! He knows how to lay down and sit like a dog. He will also follow you around at the command to come. He will side pass to a mounting block or whatever you choose to mount from. He has had many hours of liberty and groundwork training and is very disciplined and has a willing to please attitude. With his training and skill, he is the type of horse that can be ridden by most anyone but trained well enough to ride up to any level of rider.
Andy will lope circles both ways, taking the correct lead each way. He has a one-step lope that is super smooth and slow. He also one-hand neck reins, has a big stop and backs as well. He has been ridden in both indoor and outdoor arenas and shines in both places.
On the trail, Andy is a trusted mount. He has been ridden innumerable miles by our entire family. He is such a steady, surefooted horse that can handle all sorts of terrain from rough, rocky and steep to muddy, soft and deep. Andy will ride out alone or with a group, in the front or in the back. He will easily travel through creeks, over logs and through brush. He’s been ridden by friends as well and he is a go-to guy for many different jobs around here!
Andy is ridden almost daily to check cattle, fences and pastures. He is no stranger to the ranch life and has even been pasture roped off of many times. He is very dependable and appreciated around here.
Andy is great with guns, tarps and whips. He stands tied patiently, stands for the farrier, loads and hauls wonderfully and gets along well with other horses. He is clean and quiet in the stall and easy to catch. He is familiar with seeing wildlife such as deer, turkey, rabbit and squirrel on the trail almost daily and he is also familiar with the dogs, cats and goats that run in and out of the stall and pasture with him on a day-to-day basis. Andy has been ridden to and through town many times as well and is completely traffic safe.
Andy has enough talent to ride in both the English and western world. He has been started jumping as you can see in the video and we believe he has the capabilities to do just about any discipline you would choose to do with him.
