Spade is a 4 year old draft cross gelding standing 16.1 hands, and weighs 1450. He is a well-balanced, easygoing gelding with a quiet demeanor and a kind personality. We have owned Spade for over a year and he has been a pleasure to have in our program.
Spade is a gentle giant! He has toted our 4 yr old daughter around at countless rodeos to see the sights. He is safe for her to handle on the ground and is also light enough in the bridle she can guide him where she needs to go.
Spade has been hauled and used at summer rodeos to pick up and drag bulls and has also carried flags during grand entries. He has been hauled to the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas for PBR events and handled the lights and loud fireworks like it was just another day.
He is enjoyable to ride outside and is very sure footed on the trails. He confidently crosses logs, ditches, water, and rough terrain without hesitation. Spade is a great choice for someone looking for a steady, confidence building mount, as he is honest, dependable, and uncomplicated.
On the ranch, Spade has been used to sort and drag calves. You can work gates on him easily. He is reliable and consistent, whether ridden regularly or given time off. You can saddle him on cold mornings and step off into a trot without concern.
Spade rides nicely in the arena as well. He lopes correct circles both directions, gathers up in the bridle, and has a good stop and back. He side passes both ways. He even has a nice turn around. His gaits are smooth and comfortable as well.
At home, Spade is a gentleman. He stalls well or fine to turn out with others, simple to catch, stands for grooming and baths, and is excellent for the farrier.
Spade is a kind, steady gelding with experience both in and out of the arena, suitable for a variety of riders and programs.
Spade would make a great addition to anyones barn, he is so easy and very uncomplicated.
